What does your new role at Elkstone involve?
To sum it up, I’d say my new role with Elkstone entails innovation, customisation and execution. I will be working on augmenting the impressive platform that Elkstone has already built by building out our holistic investment portfolio which has within it, what I refer to as ‘blocks’. These blocks need to be robust, sophisticated, researched and well executed. As we execute on our in-house investment philosophy, we look forward to working with our clients to continue to build a well researched, innovative and diversified portfolio, in which we utilise the investment markets, investment vehicles and return characteristics that our principals and clients have available at a global level. With today’s current macroeconomic environment, it’s never been more important to have an innovative and tailored portfolio.
What were you doing before you joined Elkstone?
Prior to Elkstone, I had two very different positions. I was the Head of Trading, US Power and a Managing Director with Athlon Family Office. Athlon Family Office has three investment arms across private equity, trade finance and hedge funds and a fourth arm within pro sports and education. I worked across all four arms. RISQ is a private trading firm where I was brought in to lead the build out of a proprietary trading desk concentrating on trading electricity prices across the US Wholesale grid. This included identifying which markets to enter, hiring and managing traders, sitting on the risk committee and trading my own personal book.
Reading, watching, or listening to anything good?
Always watching and playing sports…any sports! Outside of sports, the lockdowns have meant I am out of new shows to watch on Netflix, so any recommendations on a new movie or series is strongly welcomed.
What do you do to create time for yourself?
I grew up on sports and it’s still a big part of my life. Getting out to train, play or even just to watch is my way of winding down. I have a feeling that’s all about to change with my first child due in a few weeks’ time however.
Welcome to the team Karl!
