Later that year, Elkstone participated in a €4.8 million Series A round led by Global Founders Capital, further accelerating Flipdish's growth trajectory. These strategic investments contributed to Flipdish's evolution into a global leader in digital ordering solutions, culminating in a $100 million funding round in January 2022, which elevated the company's valuation to $1.25 billion and secured its status as a technology 'unicorn'. Elkstone's partnership with Flipdish exemplifies our commitment to empowering Irish entrepreneurs to scale internationally and redefine their industries.

In 2015, brothers Conor and James McCarthy identified a critical need in the hospitality industry: empowering restaurants to maintain control over their online ordering systems without relying on third-party aggregators. This insight led them to establish Flipdish.

What began as an online ordering solution has evolved into a comprehensive, AI-powered operating system for restaurants. Today, Flipdish offers an integrated suite spanning front-of-house (websites, mobile apps, kiosk and POS systems, phone AI), engagement and loyalty (campaigns, gift cards, automated upsells), back-of-house (staff rotas, inventory management, kitchen displays, marketplace management, driver tracking), and marketing solutions (Google ads, CRM, analytics, self-service tools).

Conor, with his software development background, and James, with his expertise in ecommerce, sales, and marketing, combined their entrepreneurial skills to create a one-stop-shop platform serving restaurants across the UK and Ireland. Flipdish's rapid evolution and achievement of unicorn status, with a valuation exceeding $1.25 billion, stands as testament to their vision.
